Overview

Sungbo's Eredo is a system of defensive earthworks built around the 10th century by the Ijebu Kingdom, encircling an area of 1,400 km² near present-day Ijebu-Ode. The structure is widely cited as one of the largest pre-mechanical earthworks in Africa, on UNESCO's tentative World Heritage list.
